Here are a few paragraphs from over halfway through the story. Let me me what you think.
The rancid denizens of the lava plains scrambled toward them uttering all manner of crude curses. Fist readied his sword steadying himself for the fight against a dozen wild barbarians and their dogs.
One dog leapt out of the pack and came at Fist. He swung a mighty blow and with a shortened yelp the dog hit the floor with a huge gash in its chest. Fist looked up still stinging with pain and wrenching his face toward who would be next.
Surprisingly, the rabble stopped and held their dogs back. Three heartbeats later it became evident they were only waiting on their leader when a huge hulking figure with a lopsided face, a crooked mouth, uneven eyes, and a messy mop of black hair on top of his odd head lumbered into the chamber. On his shoulders and chest were pieces of bulky dented armor and he carried a massive axe on his back.
“Save the vagabond for me,” the hulking figure grunted barely understandably to Mannish ears.
If these folk were once Mann, something in the past, likely Shadow, had warped them into something much more sinister and bizarre having only a slight resemblance of their ancestors.
“Shall we get this over with?” Fist said righting his sword into an aggressive position.
“That will have to wait, Mann,” the hulk said. “Master wants you to be part of the audience.”
“What?” Fist said with a bewildered look. “Prepare yourself for for the Nine Hells, mongrel.”
When will it be released, you ask?
The answer is, “When it’s ready.” Seriously, I have a rough draft finished and I am polishing it and will not release it until I am satisfied with the story. I have to make it both a good stand-alone read and a good fit for the series as well as keep the characters interesting. After that, I have to create a cover and put it into electronic format.
This means there is at least a week’s worth of work done but no promises yet. I won’t release a work if I am not happy with it. I think this is going to be a good one when I am finished.
So, what do you think about this new feature of releasing small teasers? Do you want more? Make sure you leave a comment.
