Tony Romo Throws Three Mo’ Interceptions Against the Lions
Tony Romo has been quite an enigma this season and not unlike his whole career. Except the enigma seems to provide more negatives than positives. On one hand, he makes great plays but on the other hand right when the game is in hand, he gives it away on a silver platter. I have been very hard on Romo and I was generous to him when he came back against the Niners with broken ribs and a punctured lung to win that game. Then he played last week still sore and managed to find a way to beat the Redskins with a boatload of field goals in spite of a host of bubmled snaps.
This week is a different matter. Just like the first game of the season where he fumbled and threw an interception when the Cowboys were about to seal the game against the Jets, Romo’s Cowboys had a 24 point lead against the Lions and then when the third quarter comes around, the team senses a victory, then Romo proceeds to toss 2 interceptions that are returned for touchdowns and he threw 3 picks for the game.
If Tony Romo was a real gun slinging old west cowboy, what would we see? When the chips were down, wild indians or an outlaw gang were attacking the herd he’d certainly draw his Colt Single Action Army revolver or his Winchester rifle and start shootin’. The only thing about this cowboy is that he shoots the wrong guys and the bad dudes make off with the beef.
Okay, even Brett Favre had a problem throwing picks early in his career but Romo is now 31 years old and shows no sign of giving up the habit. He isn’t getting any younger and it is obvious the Cowboys can not win consistantly with this guy behind center. I get the feeling coach Jason Garrett is fed up with number 9 but we all know who calls the shots in the Big D.
Jerry, you need to wake up and smell the roses. It is time to start the search for the next signal caller to wear the blue star. If it was up to me, my slogan this year would be “No-mo Romo!”
