The Return of the Swinger

“Feeling fit and ready to tee it up at Firestone next week. Excited to get back out there!” That is what Eldrick Tont Woods tweeted last night. In case you did not know, that is Tiger’s full legal name. Tiger was the nickname given him by his first girl friend. No, not really. So, Tiger is ready to play competitive golf once again at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational next week. The last time he swung a club in a tournament was May 12th. I wonder if the recent news that he dropped out of the top 20 had anything to do with announcing his return? If it is, it could get ugly with the knee and achilles injuries he has suffered. Those are injuries that take some time to heal properly, especially when you get a little older.

Just recently, Tiger fired his log-time caddy, Steve Williams who had carried his bag in thirteen of his fourteen major tournament victories. His new caddy is reported to be a long time friend named Bryon Wells, not to be mistaken with a caddy to replace the one he crashed pulling out of his driveway trying to escape the ire of a nine iron wielding mad woman. One must wonder how this change will affect his game. Tiger now has grown a beard, aquired a new bag boy, has fewer endorsement exposure than in the past but everyone is still curious. Will we see the old Tiger Woods with his secret life or a new prim and proper Eldrick Tont Woods rising on the scene of the golf world.

Go get ’em, Tiger!
