Two men have attempted higher dives since Dana but one fractured his leg and the other broke his back. If you can’t walk away from the dive, some sources say it doesn’t count as a record as a successful dive. The best I can find is that this dive was performed in or a couple of years prior to 1985. To my knowledge, this is the highest dive ever performed, executed nearly flawlessly, and where the diver walked away unscathed. How do you practice for something like this?
And, it is amazing these records are still in tact after all these years.
AND, if this isn’t enough, he’s thinking about breaking the record at 50 years old if he hasn’t backed out yet. I think his web site is out of date though. http://www.kunzeentgroup.com/danakunze.html
